Islamabad Medical and Dental College (abbreviated as IMDC), established in 2007, is a highly selective private school of medicine and dentistry located in Islamabad, Capital Territory, Pakistan. It has a campus spread over 7.5 acres (3 ha) at the foothills of the Margalla hills. The college gives admission to 100 MBBS and 50 BDS students each year.[1]

Islamabad Medical and Dental College is affiliated with Bahria University and is recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and Ministry of Health. The college is listed in the International Medical Education Directory (IMED) and WHO Directory of Medical Schools. The college has three attached teaching hospitals; Social Security Hospital, Ahmed Medical Complex and St Joseph's Hospice, Rawalpindi

Department of Biochemistry
Biochemistry is a essential subject of basic Medical sciences protecting essential topics with regards to chemistry of life and any penalties in case of mutation or deficiency. Students are trained the chemical operations taking place in living organisms which includes structure, function and metabolism of cellular factors such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids and other bio-moleculesis studied.

Biochemistry has its scope from procedure to molecular level, as there can be no defined line in between biochemistry and molecular genetics. Structure and function of genes is trained to gain understanding of disease and its effects that include clinical genetics and techniques for gene therapy.

The name "Physiology" literally signifies "Knowledge of Nature" and is defined in dictionaries as the "science of the normal functions and method of living things". Physiology is an integrative science that has a look at function at every level of organic complexness from molecules and cells to intact organisms.

Each type of life from the very simple virus to the most significant tree or the challenging human being has its own dependable qualities. In human physiology, an endeavor is made to describe the particular attributes and mechanisms of human body that make a living being. Pathology is a pivot about which all the professional medical sciences revolve. It is a linking discipline in between basic sciences and clinical medicine. Knowledge of this subject is particularly helpful in comprehending clinical operations and interpretation of laboratory reports. A good liaison between a clinician and a pathologist is very beneficial in diagnosing and the treatment of distinct diseases.

Pathology is a study of structural and practical changes taking place in solar cells, tissues and organ that underlie disease. These dependable changes can be visualized through use of molecular, microbiologic, immunologic and morphologic methods. Main Organizations of Pathology are Histopathology, Haematology, Chemical Pathology and Microbiology. Histopathology is a study of essential causes and mechanisms of diseases, regarding the changes in morphology and functionality of various organs. It helps in the diagnosis of a variety of abnormalities in cells/tissue/organs.
Islamabad Medical and Dental College Department of Pharmacology

Department of Pharmacology is headed by Prof. Iffat Ara. Pharmacology is trained in 3rd year MBBS students. Both the basic & clinical factors of the understanding of drugs/medicines are protected. The aim is to allow the medical graduates to prescribe drugs rationally to their patients for cure or principal therapy, suppression of symptoms, prevention & diagnosis of the disease. In addition, they should be able to monitor drug therapy, pick up on and deal with adverse reactions, over-dosage and poisoning of drugs.
