AMA International University (AMAIU) is a Bahrain branch of the Philippine-based AMA Computer University; Like its main branch, it follows a trimestral calendar where a typical four year collegiate education program under a semestral calendar is completed in only 3 years and 3 months

The AMA International University College of Medicine believes that:
Education is an evolutionary process directed toward the development of each student to achieve high academic excellence- the basis of quality medical practice and concerned community service;
It must prepare its students for the practice of Medicine of Today and of the Medicine of Tomorrow; that it must provide them with the education that will not only allow them to practice sound medicine but also serve as a solid basis for continuing medical education;

AMA International University - Bahrain is a member of the AMA Education System (AMAES) based in the Philippines.

AMAES traces its roots in 1980 when Ambassador Amable R. Aguiluz V founded the Amable M. Aguiluz Institute of Computer Studies (AMAICS) with the vision of providing quality yet affordable education to the youth. From a mere provider of short term courses, AMAICS shortly offered Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Program and became the Philippines' first institution of learning to offer a comprehensive curriculum for the country's future computer scientists.

Since then, AMAICS, has grown to become AMA Education System that offers diverse academic programs under its various institutions that include AMA Computer University and Colleges, AMA Computer Learning Center, AMA International Institute of Technology, ABE International Business College, Saint Augustine International School, Norwegian Maritime Academy, Saint Augustine School of Nursing, AMA School Of Medicine and AMA School of Nursing.

AMAES has evolved into an empire of IT institutions with over 200 branches in the Philippines. In 1999, it was awarded with the prestigious ISO 9001 Certification --- a testimony to its world-class stature. To reaffirm this, AMA Computer College was granted the university status by the Commission on Higher Education of the Republic of the Philippines on August 20, 2001.

AMA Education System gains strong ground in other parts of the globe with the same sense of commitment for excellence and quality.

In September 2002, AMA International University - Bahrain (AMAIUB) was established under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, H.H. Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al-Khalifa. It envisions to provide world-class teaching and research to all Bahrainis.

AMA International University Bahrain is committed to serve as a key player in the development and enhancement of education in the Kingdom of Bahrain through its innovative curricular programs that takes into heart the dynamics of culture in the region. It offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs that include Medical Science, Computer Science, Engineering Informatics, Mechatronics Engineering, Business Informatics and International Studies as well as Graduate Programs in Business Administration and Computer Science.

Diversified education methods are provided for undergraduate students which include classroom teacher-led instruction, lectures and seminars. As a core part of all its degree programs, AMAIUB also puts emphasis on the student's career-development by providing job-relevant skills through hands-on learning, practicum and internship program. These programs aim to respond not only to meet the industry needs of Bahrain and the surrounding regions in terms of professional, and technical skills but also to meet the demands of the global workforce.

Steadily growing stronger, AMAIUB has moved from its original 3-building campus in Manama to a more spacious 57,450 sq. m. campus in Salmabad in April 2008. This reflects the University's efforts to continuously upgrade its standards through a modern, well-equipped campus that shall serves as the venue to cultivate higher learning. Today, AMAIUB enjoys a growing multicultural community and shall continue to be a thriving source of diversified cultural and learning experience.
