Location:
Army College of Medical Sciences (ACMS) is located off the Ring Road in Delhi Cantonment closest to Rajouri Garden Metro station on the Blue line (if you don't mind paying extra for the Airport Express Metro Line, Dhaula Kuan is the closest), a 10 minute bus ride away. Convenience in travelling is not an issue as buses ply along the Ring Road in plenty. And since its mandatory to reside in the college hostel, the location is hardly of any importance.
Infrastructure:
The campus, at a glance, creates a desire to pursue education from this college even if your ambition isn't medicine. In the middle of lush green lawns stands a grand white building home to lecture rooms, laboratories furnished with modern equipment, a big library, a music room, a gym, an internet room, two volleyball courts and two badminton courts among others. Students also hold special appreciation for the clean hostel rooms which have attached bathrooms and the mess food which unlike other hostels is complacent.
Faculty:
Numerous teachers are ex-faculty from AFMC, who may have been transferred to Delhi. Teaching is superb says a student And no lecture is ever called-off she continues. Discipline at Army Colllege of Medical Sciences is given utmost importance; straying around in the campus during free time is not allowed, guys need to have regular haircuts and clean shaves, girls can't be wearing inappropriate clothes and moving in and out of the campus is also under certain restricted timings.
Attendance:
Again as part of disciplinary measure the college is especially particular about the attendance criteria. Not even a single decimal point below 75.00% is tolerated and doing so leads to detention or a straight year back. Also you are not expected to enter into lecture rooms late even if you feel you have got a good rapport with the teacher.
Crowd:
Currently only the children or wards of those in the Army are allowed admission into Army College of Medical Sciences. However, there has been an appeal in court to keep a certain percentage of reservation for Army children/wards and open up the rest for the general category. The case has been pending in court sometime now and a decision is expected to come out soon. Overall, the campus atmosphere seems quite lively with a very healthy boy to girl ratio. You'll find students from all over the country with no single majority from any of the states including Delhi.
Hangouts:
Well, there nothing where students can chill very close to the college premises and going a little far from the college is somewhat undesirable for many students since they can't be wasting so much of time and restrictions implemented by the college further discourages them. However, when they do find some time they go to Rajouri Garden, the closest place where you can find some good restaurants and eateries besides a mall and a multiplex.
