Assiut University was est ablished in October 1957 as the first university in Upper Egypt. to prepare highly qualified graduates Assiut University was established in October 1957 as the first university in Upper Egypt to prepare highly qualified graduates with the basic specialized academic knowledge and training expertise on the various necessary skills. Besides, the university offers an abundance of programs complying with the contemporary world changes.

University Mission Statement
Assiut University aims at providing privileges and chances for constant development to comply with the ever-accelerating scientific and technological progress. The university strives to achieve its mission through the following:

1- Preparing technically specialized cadres in a variety of fields to meet the demands of the community and fulfill the requirements of comprehensive development by preparing highly qualified graduates of modern specializations demanded by the work market.

2- Constant development of undergraduate and graduate programs to cope with scientific and technological advancement.

3- Conducting scientific and applied research and studies related to community problems and other development projects in Upper Egypt.

4- Offering consultations and experiences to local authorities and institutions as a part of the university's concern for community service and environment development.

5- Assuring human values and national belonging and preserving the genuine principles of the community.

6- Supporting and strengthening the academic and cultural relations with other universities and academic institutions at the Egyptian, Arab and International levels.

Assiut University Hospital
Assiut University Hospital is one of the large educational and treatment hospitals in Egypt and Arab countries. It provides medical service to vast areas across Upper Egypt, assuring leadership in public service, There is no doubt that the president Hosny Mobaraks opening of this major hospital in 1987 had a great effect on accelerating its future development and progress which now accommodate about three thousands beds, these beds 92% are charge- free beds and 8% paid covered by health insurance with the governmental and nongovernmental organizations. Income is directed for covering the treatment needs of the poor and disabled patients.

The university hospital includes the main general hospital, women health hospital, and paediatrics hospital. In addition to that there are also four specialized hospitals under construction which will cover the future needs in the fields of urology, neurology, cardiac and liver diseases according to a scientifically planned strategy.

The outpatient clinics serve about one million patients a year from all over Upper Egypt, from Banysweef at north, to Aswan, Halaeb and Shalateen at south; In addition to patients from New valley and Red Sea governorates.

Mission of Hospital
The role of university hospitals is not limited to education, and treatment only but extends to community service and environment progress. Assiut University Hospitals participated in development plans strategy for Assiut governorate 2022, and New Valley governorate to 2027 in the field of health services.

The university hospitals undertake the training responsibility of doctors and nurses affiliated to the Ministry of Health. Training is extended to include physicians from Arabic countries. The University administration provide the needs of university hospitals in terms of medical equipment and supplies, infrastructures updating, serve the community more better and develop the surrounding environment.

Assiut University Hospitals organize medical convoys to poor areas deprivated from specialized medical services in all over Assiut governorate. This activity will be extended to New Valley and Red Sea governorates.

FACULTY OF MEDICINE
Assiut University Faculty of Medicine (AUFOM) was established in 1960. Being the oldest medical school in Upper Egypt, AUFOM serves as the Upper Egypt largest academic health complex that combines medical education, biomedical research, patient care and communityoutreach services
Both AUFOM and the hospital complex are located in the University Campus, and both are recognized in many areas of medical research and clinical care. They play very important role in improving the health status of Egyptian citizens in Upper Egypt

Faculty Mission
The mission of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Assiut University is to provide excellent and distinguished pharmaceutical education through accredited scientific programs and supplying the society with pharmacy graduates able to contribute with the medical team to provide excellent and professional pharmaceutical and health services at the local and regional levels. The faculty encourages developed scientific research that responds to and directed towards the national health needs

Funded Projects
Higher Education Enhancement Project Fund (HEEPF) is a mechanism within the national higher education enhancement strategic plan (HEEP). HEEPF is part of the loan agreement ,loan number 4658 EGT, dated April 2002, between the ARE and IBRD to support and Finance priority areas of the strategic plan of the higher Education Enhancement Project HEEP. The amount of the loan allocated for HEEPF Grants equal to 12,000,000 USD that was increased to 13,000,000 USD.

Student Activates
Our belief in the important and pivotal role played by the administration of Youth Welfare in colleges and public administration for the care of young people in helping the university students to engage in all activities provided by administration of Youth Welfare to help in the success of the educational process and help students access to better and higher level of academic achievement and the construction of the mind, body and spirit and to achieve the principle of healthy mind in a healthy body.
