Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College was established in 1989. It was permanently affiliated to University of Pune till it became a constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University in1996.

The medical college holds a special place of pride and distinction in the conglomerate of institutions of learning of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University.

The medical college and all the courses/degrees run by it are recognized by Medical Council of India. The General Medical Council of Great Britain has also given recognition to this college. The college is listed in World Health Organization's directory of recognized medical educational institutes. The students of this institute are eligible to appear for USMLE and PLAB exams.

Aim of our institute is to prepare students to function as competent, proactive 'First Contact Physician' equipped with scientific temper and capability for specialization befitting to ever changing health needs of changing community.

Bharati Vidyapeeth University Medical College, Pune is the culmination of vision of our founder Hon'ble Dr. Patangrao Kadam. The college is a constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth University, a unique multidisciplinary university with A Grade accreditation by NAAC.

Our medical college is one of the premier institutes imparting quality medical education at under graduate and post graduate level in the country. The college runs the MBBS course and is permitted to admit 150 students per year. The intake capacity for various post graduate degree and diploma courses is 74 at present. All our courses are recognized by the Medical Council of India. The students of our college are eligible to appear for USMLE and PLAB examination. Our college is on the directory of WHO and IMED. It is also recognized by the General Medical Council of UK.

Bharati Hospital:
Bharati Hospital is a well-known centre of clinical excellence located in the same premises. It is a 856 bedded multi-specialty, tertiary care hospital providing modern diagnostic as well as therapeutic facilities. Housed in a well-planned multistoried building having area of 3,35,500 sq ft, it caters to the immediate vicinity area of 25 sq. km and caters to the population of around 3,00,000 people.

All clinical departments are located in the hospital and have their respective OPDs. The wards and OPDs are well equipped with all facilities for teaching training and patient care. It provides good clinical material for teaching and training of under graduate and Post Graduate students.

Apart from the normal OPDs such as Medicine , Surgery , Orthopedics , Gynecology, Pediatrics etc. a number of specialty clinics like Neurology, Cardiology, Rheumatology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Endoscopy, Neurosurgery, Pediatric surgery, Plastic surgery, Breast clinic, Infertility clinic, Endocrinology clinic, Pediatric endocrinology, Pediatric nephrology, Pediatric genetics, Spine clinic, Sports medicine, Aesthetic dermatology, Geriatric clinic, De-addiction clinic, Child guidance centre etc. are also run in the hospital.

The administrative sections and record rooms are fully automated. Radiology and Orthopedics departments are linked with computer retrieval systems. The central clinical Laboratories of Hospital are well equipped with latest instruments like Fully Automated analyzers, ABG Machines, Hematology counters etc.

Blood Bank is well equipped with additional facility for component storage.

There is a state of art OT complex located on the third floor of Hospital with 13 Operating Rooms. This ultra modern facility caters to General Surgery, Orthopaedics, and super specialties like neurosurgery, laparoscopic surgeries etc. All OTs are centrally air conditioned with AHU, HEPA filters multi-para monitors, and cardiac monitors and with all the modern gadgets for the patient safety.

The facility of CCTV is available for demonstration of live operative procedures for students. The students can interact and get their queries answered by discussion with operating surgeon.

Infrastructure
The institution provides excellent infrastructure for promoting overall growth and development of the students.

The buildings are constructed to provide all the basic amenities that are required for meaningful teaching and learning process .The total built up area of college is 2,55,000 sq.ft.The college building is a four storied, well illuminated and ventilated premises with big corridors and ample space.

The main administrative block is situated on the ground floor at the entrance of the college building. The fully furnished offices of Principal and Vice Principal are in the vicinity of the administrative block.

The administrative block & the academic sections of the college are fully computerized with 24 hours Internet facility.

There are 20 departments in the Medical College. The pre-clinical and para clinical departments are located in the college building. Each department has well furnished faculty rooms with separate space for departmental office and non-teaching staff. Departments have separate demonstration rooms, well equipped practical laboratories, museums, dissection halls to carry out teaching and training of Undergraduate and Post Graduate students.

Well-equipped Research Laboratories and an Animal House are available to carry out research in basic medical sciences.

For Academic activities the institute has 5 lecture halls, each admeasuring around 2000 sq ft. (Seating capacity of 180 students) with in-built acoustics and projection facilities including LCD projector.

Lecture Hall

• Air-conditioned conference halls are available for college council and other meetings.
• Examination halls have a Seating Capacity for 375 candidates. There is a separate hall for the Central Assessment Programme (CAP) located in college building.
• The Medical Education Technology Unit is located on the third floor of the college building. This unit provides basic and advanced training for teachers in the Medical College.

College Auditorium

• There are two centrally air conditioned auditoriums built to carry out the Co-Curricular and extracurricular activities like conferences, seminars, cultural programmes etc.
• The departments are well equipped to support student learning and also have state of the art equipment like Fully Automated Chemi-luminescence, Immuno-hisochemistry, Teaching Microscopes, ELISA Facilities etc. to aid patient diagnosis and to update post graduate training in special fields like Endocrinology, Histopathology, Bacteriology, Immunology etc.
• The college has a separate statistical unit for providing statistical assistance to all departments for their research projects.
• The central Photographic cum Audiovisual Unit of the college is equipped with trained staff and facilities like Digital camera, Still Camera, Video Camera and Microphotography apparatus etc.
