Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy
Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy is accomplished multilevel continuous system of specialists training: premedical studying (medical and biological classes in high school, preparation courses), studying in institution of higher professional education, postgraduate education, courses of increasing medical qualification and refresher doctors, besides that specialists certification and training of scientists and professors.

It was founded in the 22nd of July 1944 on the base of Kiev Medical Institute, which was evacuated from Kiev to Chelyabinsk.

The Rector of Academy is Ilya I. Dolgushin, Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Medical Science, Honored Scientists of Russian Federation, MD, professor, Head of Microbiology Department.

There are 6 Faculties in ChelSMA:

• Faculty of General Medicine
• Pediatric Faculty
• Sanitary and Prophylactic Faculty
• Dentistry
• Higher education for Nurses and Management
• Pharmaceutical Faculty

Nowadays there are more than 3 thousands students studies in ChelSMA.

There are 48 Departments in Academy, Central Scientific Research Laboratory, Immunology Scientific Research Institution, library, one of the best in Russia Museum of Anatomy and Embryology, Computer and Internet Class, 4 students' hostels, Health Centre, Sports Summer Camp and others subdivisions.

Clinical Departments of Academy are based in 24 city hospitals.

The teaching stuff of ChelSMA consists of 460 persons.

Much attention is paid to scientific work.

In 1991 on the base of ChelSMA Regional Russian Center for WHO program CINDI was set up.

Since 1999 Academy participate in partnership program devoted to childhood asthma with McGill University (Canada). The overriding aim of this project is to improve the health of children living in Chelyabinsk.

Since its foundation in ChelSMA Students' Scientific Society is l worked well. Every year students' scientific conference is held in Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy.

Thus, nowadays ChelSMA is recognized as big higher educational institution with deep and fundamental system of medical education.

About The City
At present Chelyabinsk is a large industrial, cultural and historic and educational centre with the population more than 1 million people. It consists of 7 districts and more than 1200 streets. There are 18 higher educational institutions in which more than 100 thousands students are studied. Among these institutions there are two medical schools - Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy and Ural's State Medical Academy of Additional Doctor's Education. All that makes the city a scientific and educational centre.

Speaking about culture life of Chelyabinsk we can say that there are 6 theatres here - Opera House, Drama theatre, the theatre for young spectators, puppet show, theatre of modern art, Philharmonic Society, also numerous cinemas. Without any doubt there are a lot of night clubs, discos, cafes, parks and squares here.
