Faculty Of Medicine And Biomedical Sciences University of Yaounde

In October 1961 the faculty of medicine and the biomedical Sciences University of Yaounde was established in Cameroon. Initially the university was named as the Institut d'Etudes Universities. In 1962 the university was renamed as the Federal University of Cameroon. In 1973 it became the University of Yaounde. The academic institution of the University of Yaounde aims to:

• Develop and transmit knowledge
• Bring the highest level of progress in the field of culture and research,
• Promote the development and support for the social and welfare of the society

The training program of general medicine (seven years) follows the system of Dr. Vincent Djientcheu is a professor and surgeon. He also has the experience in medical teaching and play a vital role in the medical program of the University of Yaounde.

Objectives of the University of Yauonde:
1.Create professionals in various fields to enable team building, promotes health care in the society
2.Arrange and provide medical and health services for the complete population of a given community
3.Making medical research and functional.

Objectives of the medical schools
The medical school aimed to provide training of qualified doctors to ensure broad responsibilities for curative and preventive medicine. This training to the students play a role in maintaining and improving the health of the individual and the community.

Diagnose and treat a wide range of diseases for the Prevention of the people

Contribute to the advancement of health sciences through research.
