Academic Strength & Environment
Fujian Medical University (FJMU) is a regional university in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian Province. Founded in 1939, and it has two campuses, which covers an area of about 87 hectares.
The university is consisting of 19 schools, and 1 stomatological hospital, 26 teaching hospitals and 10 affiliated hospitals. Among these hospitals 9 are ranked top level hospitals. This facilitates the students with efficient clinical teaching and practical network.
Currently, FJMU has 20,000 students including 300 international students. These students are from Bangladesh, Kenya, India, Pakistan etc. The medical school started international education in 1998 and in 2009 the courses were taught in English.
The clinical training for the students is held in 5 teaching hospitals. The Union Clinical Medical College is the main center for clinical teaching. The university has appointed qualified and experienced teachers in various disciplines which includes clinical medicine, image, pharmacology, anesthesia, inspection, oralogy and nursing.
It has 641 faculty members which includes 346 senior professionals, 140 professors and associate professors, 18 doctoral tutors, 96 master tutors and 32 recipients of special subsidies from the State Council.
Campus
The university has the right to recruit Taiwan students and the international students from Hong Kong and Macao. The university comprises 1600 postgraduates, 9300 undergraduates and 8700 vocational student. The school was declared as the key university by the Fujian Government and recognized good achievements in 2003.
Admission:
According to the rules of the Ministry of Education and the Fujian Provincial Department, international students can get insurance while in China, which amounts to RMB600 per year. The receipts of the Insurance copy shall be attached to the paper at the time of registration.
1) Life insurance: the amount covered shall not be less than RMB 100,000;
2) Accident & Medicare Insurance: cannot be less than RMB 10,000;
3) Insurance for Hospitalization: cannot be less than RMB 400,000.
Language Qualifications
- Other than Chinese citizens should have a passport and have good health;
- Must passed higher secondary examination or comparative to that of a Chinese graduate or above, with results of B or above (more than 70 for a hundred-mark
- Language requirements: all the subjects are taught in English. The applicants from non-English native speakers should produce the Certificates for English learnt throughout the primary and high schools or certificate of English proficiency test.
- For arts the language is taught in Chinese. If the students applying for majors of Arts, the level of proficiency in Chinese will be tested and should have agrade of C (Level 6) or above in HSK.
- For Science major students, lessons are taught in Chinese, and the level of proficiency should be C (Level 3) or above in HSK.
- If the students are basically studying in Chinese ai primary and hgh schools then the are not required to produce thgese HSK certificates.
Admission procedure:The students are asked to apply in online and then the documents are mailed to the Overseas Education College; if not the students are asked to appear or authorize someone to register in the Overseas Education College.
Program DescriptionThe Chinese culture and natural science course include the following:
- For the international students the students should learn Chinese language. Then only they can learn some of the allied subjects and they can keep in contact with the patients during clinical training and practice.
- The native students of China are asked to familiar with the English language as they can easily learn the major subjects.
- To complete this course the students should also pass the subjects of Basic medical sciences, behavioral science, humanities, social science and medical ethics, preventive medicine and clinical medicine.
