About:
The Gajara Raja Medical College was established in the year 1945; This Medical College was inaugurated by the Jiwaji Rao Scindia, the innovator of Gwalior state in 1946, temporary building on the tennis court. Dr. Bhagwat Sahai was the creator. The whole infrastructure was finished by the end of 1948. Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the IRON MAN, inaugurated the college in 1948.

This is the fifty year old medical college and provide MBBS seats for 140 students, 66 seats for post graduation Courses and 31 for Diploma courses every year. Jaya Arogya Group of Hospitals is affiliated with this college and have 963 beds and ICU facility. The Hospital is prepared with all the modern diagnostic features, such as Scan, echocardiography, endoscopy, laparoscopic surgery. The Neurosurgery Hospital is also attached to the institute.

Medical Council of India recognized the university from the initial stage. The British Medical Council also recognized this medical school in 1951. Postgraduate courses started in 1951 in all specialties. Only five students were approved in 1951, later it increased and 21 students were admitted in 1958. The Dr. Bhagwat Shai Neurosurgery Hospital was started in the year 1978 equipped with operating theatre, X-ray, pathology section, and neurology wards.

This institute was working as an autonomous institute in April 1997 and initially under the name of Rogi Kalyan Samiti. Later it was renamed as the Gajara Raja Medical College, Gwalior which controls both college and the affiliated JA Group of Hospitals.

H. C. Buckley, Chairman of the inspecting committee of Agra University recognized the hospital as very well structured, neat and orderly on 1946. He also stated that the X-ray department as the best in India and suggested it to turn into a training hospital.

Library:
The Library was established in 1946. There are 2 reading rooms. The library time on working days is 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Second and third Saturday working time is 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. The whole library has the facility of the internet. The number of books in the library is about 20,000. Also it includes national and international medical journals

Hospital:
The Jaya Arogya Hospital also known as JAH was designed during the interval of Madhav Rao Scindia and was inaugurated officially in 1899. The number of beds available in 1946 was 400
In 1936 A radio surgical block was approved. An OPD for 1500 patients were created into separate blocks known as Madhav Dispensary.
