The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) is the 11th oldest medical school and it is the role model for health sciences training. In the classroom, students are revealed to some of the most impressive academic techniques, including the Clinical Learning and Simulation Skills (CLASS) Center. This facility allows the students to practice essential skills and procedures on human patient simulators. Because of these resources, SMHS graduates become well-trained and compassionate professionals who are prepared to impact the nation's health care.

In collaboration with the Columbian college of Arts and Science and the Children's National Medical center, the university also holds the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBS), the academic home for PhD training in Biomedical Science. Recognized in 1996, the institution delivers together a prosperity of training and research possibilities for doctoral-level learners. SMHS also provides residency training with the department of Graduate Medical Education (GME). SMHS is an aggressive and prestigious location for physicians across the country. Further, GME make aware the students stay on the most modern developments in medication by a sequence of primary lecturers.

Financial Aid:
This detail is designed for all applicants and students. It is designed to provide with basic details about the financial aid programs and guidelines. The primary liability for financing the medical education sets with the student and their family. However, it is easy to understand that the amount can play a role may not always be adequate to fulfill the costs of participating school of medicine.

Scholarship:
GWUMC offers need-based grant assistance for medical students each year. These resources come from a variety of endowed and restricted scholarship funds. To qualify for the scholarship the student must be a U.S citizen or permanent resident and explain the need and the family background as per the medical school's awarding process.

Opportunities:
Books and lectures are the part of student's education at the university. Internships, community services and student organizations are another component of the university. As the university has the collaboration of national and international organizations students can participate in lots of extracurricular efforts, including interning at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), or in an oncology student interest group. SMHS students find that these experiences shape them into medical experts who are sympathetic, culturally qualified, and team-oriented.

GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences Day of Service

The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) wanted to bring a global focus to its annual Commitment to the Community day and decided to address one of humanity's basic needs adequate and quality nutrition. GW SMHS partnered with the DC chapter of Kids Against Hunger to provide 60,000 meals to feed the famine-stricken families in the Horn of Africa.
