The university was founded in 1828, with nine colleges and nearly 10,000 students. The faculty includes 1,000 and 5,000 staff members. It is the 13th oldest medical school and it is the only dental college in the state. The Medical College of Georgia has a partnership with Athens.

A degree from GRU is greatly respected as it is focused on research and patient care. The students of GRU have such factors such as comprehensive staff support and in-depth scientific training. GRU plays a significant role in implementing advanced technologies into the curriculum. These include simulation labs, distance and online based instruction, mobile applications for both students and the faculty.

Students are trained by some of the most famous lecturers and scientists. These faculty members not only explain vital information but also help the students to conduct extensive research to promote the wellness and quality of life.

Student Organizations
The Student Government Association and other student organizations are independent associations. They are not the representatives of the University and and have no authorization to enter into any agreement, contract or on behalf of GHSU.

Accreditation:
The Georgia University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) it recognizes certificates and degree programs from the baccalaureate, to the doctoral levels.

Financial Aid:
The Office of Student Financial Aid at the University will assist you by providing much information about federal, state, and institutional loans. The office of student affairs encourages all current and prospective students to explore their financial options at GRU.

Grants are provided on the basis of students need and family background and do not require repayment. Frequently called gift aid provided by federal and state governments. To apply for aid the student must be a citizen of the United States or a permanent resident, or be an eligible noncitizen.

Loans are provided by the federal and state government including private resources. These loans must be repaid. Eligibility and terms also different. The rate of interest, the repayment period depends on the particular loan.

Scholarships may be based on merit and they do not require repayment. 85% of scholarships come from students' like civic and religious organizations, banks and employers of family members.
