The Government medical college (GMC) Aurangabad is a school of medicine associated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nasik. The medical school is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi. The university was founded in 1956. It is one of the leading healthcare organizations in the state of Maharashtra. The College has an outstanding training center for doctors, nurses, and DMLT students in the field of medicine.

Undergraduate courses
Out of these 150 seats 15% chairs are allotted for All Indian medical entrance examinations, while the remaining seats are allotted through state level entrance examination (MH-CET) performed by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Maharashtra. 50% of seats is reserved for backward classes. Admission to the college is based on merit

The post-graduate students in various courses of medicine and surgery can be approved by the GMC through all India and Maharashtra state level post-graduate examinations.

The special facilities available at GMC Hospital (GMCH) are Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU), Medicine Intensive Care Units (MICU), Neonatal Intensive Critical Unit (NICU), Pediatric Intensive care Unit (PICU), CT - SCAN, MRI and a blood bank.
To offer an excellent medical care for people in the province, the Preventive and Social Medicine (PSM) functions non-urban health and training center at Paithan 50 km from Aurangabad. The PSM department also functions one city health care center in Shahganj.
