Govt medical college Kozhikode
Govt medical college Kozhikode is a top-notch medical college in the city of Kozhikode in Kerala. It was established in 1957 as the second medical college. Since then the organization has exploded into a center of medical education in the state. The wide and expansive campus is propagated over a comprehensive area of 270 acres and is located about 8 km east from the city. In the beginning it was associated with the University of Calicut and now to the Kerala University of Health and Sciences (KUHS).

The foundation was laid in 1957 by the Governor of Kerala, Dr. B. Ramakrishna Rao. The college was inaugurated on 5 Aug 1957 by the minister of Health state, Dr. A.R. Menon.

Hospital:
The hospital was developed in 1966 with 1183 beds. It was later formulated by the Institution of Maternal and Child Health in 1975 (610 beds), the Savithri Devi Saboo Memorial Cancer Institute (101 beds) and the Chest Hospital (100 beds). A super specialty complex, a new Block for the Institute of Maternal and Child Health, an artificial limb center, the College of Nursing , the College of Pharmacy, Casualty (Emergency Services) complex, Samrakshana Kendram, and Vishrama Kendram were later added to the main institution. The Dental College was inaugurated on 16 Apr 1984 and is at the moment performing as a separate college.

Attendance
Attendance at academic and extracurricular activities are compulsory. Keep program should be posted before continuing to leave. All students will ensure that they are prompt at their places of responsibility. To be present at the examination student must have a minimum of 80% attendance. A university student without proper leave will go through disciplinary action such as informing parents, suspending from classes.

Classroom:
Students are expected to assemble in the class room 5 minutes before the attendance. A student who affects the class in any manner or does not keep self-discipline may be removed from the class by the lecturer. A student so removed shall be considered to be absent without leave. Should these penalties be considered, a report shall be made to the principal.

Library:
The books for each department will be chosen by the HOD and the record sent to the official who will organize and buy books according to accessibility of funds.

The collection will be started from 10.00 am to 9.00pm on all times and from 10am to 5pm on vacations and during holidays. The students and the staff and the medical officers of the college and hospital can access the books. Students are permitted to use the library only for referrals and they are prohibited to take away any book out of the collection room.

Students should not carry their own books into the library. They should create their names and time of entry and leaving from the library in the library to register.
The new books bought for the library will be put up on the notice board. Such books will be placed only after 15 days from the date of publication of the list. Outsiders will be permitted to use the library with the permission from the librarian.
