Government Medical College, Haldwani provides high quality education which improves the socioeconomic development and satisfies the needs of people in Uttarakhand. The college is unique and excellence in education, training, clinical training, and research.

The mission of the college is to offer Service to the patients and to satisfy the health needs of the community. This is the First Post Graduate College in Uttarakhand and it is approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI). It is situated at the foot of the Nainital hill and in the town of Haldwani.

The Medical College houses the departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic Medicine, Social & Preventive Medicine and Biochemistry and laboratories for each department with International standards.

Moreover to this the college has 600-bedded teaching hospital, provides health care services to the Kumaon region. It provides Clinical training for the students. All these are done at government prescribed rates and free treatment to the BPL patients.

Facilities:
Modern Equipments and facilities have been provided in the Hospital and College. The Library is also well equipped and has computerized service. The students are allowed to permit particular access to databases and have CD's for MEDLINE, Health Plan, CINHAL, Cancer, Psyclit, AIDSLINE, ERIC, SPORT etc.

It is one of the best Medical Colleges in India. The Hospital services are completely computerized and provide Tele-Medicine service for the Physician and other professional team for keeping them informed with the newest improvements in specific areas.

Admission procedure
100 seats are allotted for MBBS Course each year

Category
a) Uttarakhand PMT = 85 Seats, Annual Tuition Fee Rs. 15,000 /-
b) All India PMT (Conducted by CBSE) = 15 Seats, Annual Tuition Fee Rs. 15,000 /- & Rs. 2, 20,000 /-

Note:
All Uttarakhand PMT candidates will have to sign an agreement with the Govt. To work in the hill regions of the state for 5 years. If the students agree for an agreement they will be charged Annual Tuition Fee of Rs. 15,000 /- if they are not they will be charged Annual Tuition Fee Rs. 2, 20,000 /-

Hospital
The Healthcare center became efficient on 26th Dec 1995. However, it was officially inaugurated Shri H.D. Deve Gowda Ji, the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India on July 1996. This is consistently being extended and improved to keep pace with ever improving population on its services as well as to keep with the enhancements in the medical industry.

The Hospital charges Rs.5/- as a signing up cost per individual (Valid for 15 days).
Amount for General ward is Rs.5/- per day (first 3 days, no bed charges).
The cost per X-Ray is done at Rs.30/-.
Operations, procedures, Research etc. are being performed as per the Government rates.
A medical shop has been started in the hospital for the benefit of the patients. From this shop, the patients are offered high quality drugs at affordable prices. The Hospital is having its independent and fully equipped engineering services, kitchen, laundry, central sterilization unit etc.
This hospital has approximately 200 physicians at the moment. Most of the services of the Medical center like-security, washing, common servicing etc, have been organized on a contract basis.
