Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences

Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences is one of the most reputed medical college in Karnataka, India. Started in 2006 by Government of Karnataka.

Admissions to undergraduate courses can be gained through the CET (Common Entrance Test) conducted by the Government of Karnataka or through the All India Entrance Examination.

Library
It is the aim of the Library of the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences to serve the varied needs of its many readers efficiently. The Library makes available to the staff, and medical students, a wide collection of medical literature, including Books, Journals, Reference Sources and pamphlets. The amount of newly published information available to the medical student, the practicing doctor, other personnel, demands a flexible library system and trained library staff.

This site explains the resources, services, privileges and regulations and Electronic Resources like e-Journals, e-books etc., of the library. It should enable readers to obtain the information they seek in the most expeditious and efficient manner. The Library Staff hope to serve you conscientiously and well, and thereby make their contribution to the optimum practice of the art and science of medicine.

Special Camp Report

• NSS special camp was held for a week in Doddakanagal village, Alur Taluk, Hassan District, Karnataka from 15-03-2009 to 21-03-2009
• The camp was directed by Dr.K.S.Gangadhar, Principal, HIMS, Hassan.
• Guidance by Dr.Suresh Prabu, Assistant Professor, HIMS, Hassan

• 58 Volunteers were participated and were sorted into 5 groups

• In these 7 days, all the volunteers and the groups participated in various activities like Health Check up Camp, Family Health Survey, Food Arrangements, Shramadhana (Field work), Stage Set up and got a chance to learn about the problems present in village.
• In the health camp, Dermatologist, Peadtrician, Medicine, Surgery and OBG Specialist were invited on separate days to the camp for special check up of village patients.
• About 50 villagers got their Blood Glouse level checked.
• About 300 Children and 150 adults underwent medical check up.
• About 350 people got their blood groups checked.
• Also students did general health check up and gave health education to all the students of Government School, Doddakanagal.

• More than 275 Houses were surveyed and the main health problem identified they are
• Skin Diseases
• Sanitation Problem
• Water Problem.etc..

• All our students did lot of field work by making proper way for sewage, cutting thorn plants and weeds and also made people realize the importance of cleanliness.
• Thus the camp was very fruitful both to the villagers and the students.
• The students have learnt to be systematic and disciplined, also have learnt about adjusting and helping others in their need. They have become more service minded.
