College Campus
Building of this Medical College has four stories. Deptt. of Anatomy, examination hall ,auditorium, college canteen, seminar hall, girls common room, Deptt. of Telemedicine and the office of the principal & controller , all are situated on the ground floor. P.W.D. workshop and the workshop are situated on the backyard of the building and in vicinity of them , there is generator room to overcome the problems of power failure.

Similarly there is a bore-well for water supply to this college . First floor is occupied by the department of Pathology and Microbiology with their laboratories , and the college library which is situated above the office of the principal & controller.

Lecture theatre - 1 (L T - 1) & Lecture theatre - 3 (Symphony / LT - 3) are situated on the first floor. Department of Paramacology and PSM along with the Lecture theatre - 2 (LT - 2) have occupied the second floor of the building , where as the department of Physiology and Biochemistry and situted on the third topmost floor of the building . In the deptt. of Biochemistry , their laboratories like RIA Lab are also there on the same floor.

Surrounding the main building of the college , there is ample of space for a garden & parking area for faculty members , office staff and the students. Department of Cardiology , Urology T.B. & Chest disease and the Under graduate Boys hostel are also situated in the same campus in their own buildings separately , however ; the deptt. of T.B. & Chest disease has a separate access from Jaipur Road, near to the Suchna Kendra .

A fully functional branch of state bank of India is also there in the college building itself.

Brief History:
If we pass through the golden achievements made in last few decades by this institute and think of its past, One can not forget the contribution of Honorable Sh. Mohanlal Sukhadia, the past Chief Minister of Rajasthan , Sh. Barkat Ullaha Khan, the Health Minister of that time and the Finance Minister Sh. B. K. Kaul along with Dr. S.P. Wanchoo, whose combined efforts made it possible and another (or 4 th) medical college of Rajasthan was founded in Ajmer in the year 1965. At that time , the college was started in the old building of T.B. & Chest diseases hospital with an admission facility of 50 students per year (which has now been increased to one hundred per year). Dr. S.P. Wanchoo, Superintendent Victoria Hospital , an eminent surgeon was appointed as first Principal & Controller of this institute , named after the first Prime Minister of our country , Pandit JawaherLal Nehru .

Dr. B. B. Maitraiye and Dr. M.K. Patni were appointed as first head of the department of Physiology & Anatomy respectively. Basic facilities for teaching research were made available and simultaneously , the other department , viz. Pharmalogy Pathology , Forensic Medicine and P & S.M. were developed.

Meanwhile , the construction of a new building for this medical college was going on in the vicinity of Victoria Hospital now Jawaher Lal Nehru Hospital of that time and all the departments were shifted in the year 1967-68 to the present building

After retirement of Dr. S.P. Wanchoo from the Govt. services , Dr. M.N. Katzoo , Professor & Head General Surgery ,Dr. R.P. Chaturvedi, Professor & Head Anatomy deptt. ; Dr. S. N. Misra ,Professor & Head deptt. of medicine ; & Dr. V.B. Maitraiye , Professor & Head deptt of Physiolosy respectively remained as principals ot this college . Meanwhile in the year 1973 , this college was recognized by the Medical Council of India , for medical graduation course.

This medical college was established in year 1965 and was run in the building of T.B. and Chest Diseases Hospital till 1967-68. Thereafter it was shifted to the present building in vicinity of the Jawahar Lal Nehru Hospital, formerly known as Victoria Hospital.

At present, apart from the main buildings of college and hospital this college holds separate buildings for departments of T.B. and Chest diseases, Cardiology Urology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Drug De-addiction Centre and Radiotherapy situated nearby in a campus. Recently, the department of Gynae & Obst. has been shifted to a new building of Mother and Child Healthcare Hospital situated in a huge campus of 140 Bighas. A suitable hostel facility is also available within the campus , for undergraduate and post graduate students of this college.

M.B.B.S. degree of this college is recognized by Medical Council of India (M.C.I). Apart from this medical graduation course, this college offers various post graduation courses including MD/MS degrees recognized by M.C.I and or University M.Sc. and PhD. courses in various specialties.

Jawahar Lal Nehru Hospital is equipped with all the modern treatment facilities and a team of dedicated doctors and paramedical staff who provide a round the clock service to the patients.

Academics
For undergraduate courses, the duration of MBBS course is four and a half years of training with a year of compulsory internship. After the successful completion of the training and internship the M.B.B.S. degree certificate is awarded by the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences.
