The Muslim Educational Society, Kerala's most prestigious and renowned educational Organisation had its inception in the year 1964 . Basically evolved as a charitable institution mainly to grant scholarships and educational aids to the poor and the needy, this organization gradually spread its activities to bring about a remarkable transformation in the educational status of the backward classes of people, especially the Muslim community.

The formation of the muslim Educational Society was a socially committed and timely venture of a small group of Muslim intellectuals led by the great Neurologist of the yester years , Dr. P.K. Abdul Ghafoor, the Founder President of the Muslim Educational Society, who had dedicated his entire life for an educational revolution in the country and pledged to keep the lamp of knowledge aloft to illuminate the life of a society which was till then a neglected class and deprived of avenues for even acquiring primary education.

And thus emerged in the year 1964 this great organization, when the Muslim Educational Society was registered under the Charitable Societies Registration Act 1860 (Central Act XXI of 1860) under Regn. No. 54/1964. The Registered office of the MES (Regd) Calicut is at Bank Road, Calicut. The predominant Aims and objectives of the Society as laid down in the Bye-laws are to render committed service for the Educational,, Social, Cultural and Economic advancement of the poor and the backward communities of the country in all possible ways.

The late Dr. Abdul Ghafoor the founder President could achieve a tremendous success in establishing a large number of academic institutions under the banner of the MES and make MES the largest organization in the Country that distributes scholarships to the poor students .But starting a Medical College which was his life greatest mission remained as his unfulfilled dream .

This long-cherished dream of the Founder President was however further carried forward to the next generation that emerged in the leadership of MES and they strived to fulfill this ambitious dream. This motivation, the beloved founder of the Muslim Educational Society late Dr. P.K.Abdul Ghafoor instilled in them was the pivotal force that emboldened the MES to take up the great challenge of setting up a Medical College in Malappuram District under the self-financing sector with an outlook to mould medical professionals by imparting quality medical education with the objective of improving the health care status of the Society.

In the year 2003, the MES Medical college and Hospital became a reality and then followed a series of Medical institutions namely MES Dental college, MES College of Nursing, MES School of Nursing and MES Institute of Para medical Sciences all under the banner of "MES ACADEMY OF MEDICAL SCEINCES, PERINTALMANNA" , situated in the lush greenery of 60 acres of land spread over in Malaparamba in Perintalmanna.

The last four decades have been witnessing to a remarkable transformation in the educational status of Muslims in kerala, supposedly the most backward in education. The driving force behind this effort has been THE MUSLIM EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY.

As on today, it is the largest Muslim service organization in the country with strength of more than 11,000.It not only has Units in Each and every District of Kerala, but also has spread to neighbouring states and Middle East countries.

During the initial years, the society's main projects were for running the educational institutions, but as the years passed by ,MES has introduced numerous social welfare programs for the benefit of the community .The scheme of awarding scholarship to the deserving students was its first program and it was a great success as there were tremendous response from the community and the well-wishers.

Encouraged by such an overwhelming support from the community for service activities, the society diversified its activities into various educational projects. the organizations spread to the neighboring districts of Calicut and within no time ,MES was in all the districts of kerala.As the society has no political links, people from all walks of life joined its fold and very soon it became a major platform for all sections of Muslims to take up social welfare activities and to start educational institutions.

The commitment of the Muslim educational society towards excellence in establishing educational institutions and the motivation our founder instilled in them were instrumental to take up the challenge of setting up medical institutions in Malappuram district with an outlook to mould medical professions by imparting quality medical education with the objective of improving the health care status of the society

MESAMS is a multi-disciplinary medico network comprising Medical College and its teaching hospital, Dental College, Nursing College and school and all have minority status. Academic and Extracurricular activities of campus institutions are organized under the parasol of MESAMS

Medical College
The college has obtained all the statutory approval of recognition from the ministry of health and family welfare,Govt. of India, New Delhi, Medical Council of India,Govt. of Kerala and enjoys affiliation to the university Calicut.The college conducts MBBS Course of four and half year's duration followed by one year compulsory rotator internship. The annual intake of student of the college for MBBS Course is 100.

The College Building comprises four stories with total carpet area of 15000 sq meters. Inside this palacious building are housed the full fledged pre & para clinic departments equipped the state of the art laboratories, air conditioned lecture theatres and the grand central auditorium supported by the latest multimedia technologies.

There is a well-set excellently catalogued library having more than 15000 medical books subscribing to more than 100 periodicals of Indian and international titles, Video tapes and multimedia materials the library has the added advantage of providing access to e.journals and online medical and health publications. The college has also the finest infrastructure for all indoor and outdoor sports and game.

Dental College
The MES Academy of Medical Sciences was founded on 24 April 2003 as a tribute to Honor the contributions of the late.Dr.P.K. Abdul Ghafoor, a visionary who was unequalled as a Philanthropist, whose principal aim was to uplift the downtrodden strata of Muslims in this Country by providing better educational facilities for them.

A state of the art general hospital with many specialties in modern medicine was founded in 2003 with facilities to accommodate 500 patients.

In 2004 MES Medical College was set up with an annual intake of 100 students. MES Nursing College soon followed with fifty admissions and another twenty students for the nursing certificate course.

The MES Dental College was started in the year in the 2007 and five batches of students have already joined this institution. The presence of a well equipped and staffed parental Medical College in the same campus is an added advantage which many other Dental Colleges do not have. The MES has already stamped its signature in the field of education.

With the vision and vast experience of MES in the field of education and the dedication of the faculty, the MES Dental College is well set for a giant leap. We have a steady inflow of patients to this college and this offers sufficient clinical exposure to the students. The dedicated team of faculty is committed to provide quality education to the students and treatment to the patients

Nursing College
After the establishment of the MES medical college in the year 2003, the next area on which the management put its thrust was on starting a Nursing College in the Medical College Campus itself as a feeder unit for the medical college so as to ensure that highly proficient nursing care can also be made possible in the hospital if we could ourselves mould nurses in our own institution in close proximity to our hospital and utilize them for our hospital Medicare unit. Accordingly MES College of nursing came into existence in the year 2004 with the approval of Nursing Council of India, Kerala Nurses and midwives council and affiliation of the University of Calicut.

The in-take of the students for the Bsc Nursing Course is 50.The First batch of our Nursing College has passed out from the college in 2009 and in the MES Medical College as interns staff nurses. Our Nursing College has the rare distinction of being the first and only Nursing College that is attached to medical college for providing clinical facilities for its students in Malappuram district.

MES college of nursing is functioning in an exclusive four storied building with a spacious class room, most modern teaching technology, administrative office and well-equipped laboratories for fundamentals of nursing, community health Nursing,Nutrition,Anatomy,Physiology and computer science. An excellent and scientifically classified library with a large number of essential periodical provides facilities to the student to do their reference and research work.

Apart from the Academic proficiency the aim at developing the cultural and sports talents of our student by giving them ample facilities and opportunities in those areas as well. A terms of highly qualified, well experienced and totally committed faculty members bestow their personal care and attention on the overall development of our student.
