The College was started in 1987 and is affiliated to the Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar. It has been accorded recognition by the Medical Council of India.

The College has state-of-the art research and development facilities, a Library and other infrastructure support systems. The musea attached to the college departments particularly of Anatomy, Preventive and Social Medicine, Pathology and Pharmacology have rich collections and are rated the best in the State.

The College places particular emphasis on community medicine. The hospital is the referral hospital for Tribhuvandas Foundation, the largest non-government organization in Asia, working in the field of maternal and infant care in over 600 villages of the district. Its Department of Preventive & Social Medicine HAS successfully implemented a number of health care programmes in the villages of Anand and Kheda districts.

The MBBS Course
The MBBS course is for a duration of five and a half years which is inclusive of one year of compulsory internship. The college admits 100 students every year. Different disciplines are covered in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Medical Council of India. However, there is distinction from other medical colleges in the way the curriculum is designed there is emphasis on integrated teaching and learning. This is perhaps the only medical college in the country, where different faculties (pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical) come together to teach the students in an integrated fashion, a given topic/system, ensuring thereby that the information given is neither fragmented nor repititive but is complete and up to the mark.

Eligibility:
Undergraduate:
The applicants should have completed 10+2 or equivalent examination either from Gujarat Higher Secondary School Education Board or from any school situated in Gujarat, recognized by CBSE or ISCE, with minimum of 55% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English taken together.

Post Graduate Diploma:
The candidate ought to have passed MBBS examination along with one year of internship, from a recognized university.

Post Graduate:
The aspirant should have completed MBBS, followed by one year of internship, from a recognized university.
Admission Procedure:

Undergraduate:
The selection of the candidates depends upon the merit list prepared according to their marks in GUJCET.

Entrance Test: GUJCET

Post Graduate:
Selection of the candidates is based on their performance in the entrance test conducted by the university.

Post Graduate Diploma:
The candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance test conducted by the university.
