About the College:-
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 38 of the Andhra Pradesh Government Medical and Dental Instituion converting them into Semi-Autonomous Institution under the Act No.31 of 2007, published in Andhra Pradesh Gazette vide reference No.26 January 23,2008.

The Government have issued orders for construction of new Medical College and Hospital viz.,Rajiv Gandhi Insttue of Medical Sciences (RIMS).Ongole with an estimated cost of Rs.25 crores Sanctioned in G.O.Ms.No.210 HM&FW (E1)Dept., Dated 27-05-2007.

G.O.Ms.No.210 HM&FW (E1)Dept., Dated 27-05-2007.accorded administrative sanction for Rs.125 crores for construction of new Medical College and Hospital at Ongole, Prakasam District viz.,Rajiv Gandhi Insttue of Medical Sciences (RIMS).Ongole

The District Collector & Magistrate has identified and handed over the site to an extent of 37.46 acres in survey No.68 of Pelluru Village,Ongole Mandal pertaining to Nagarjuna Sagar Project in which Staff Quarters & Offices of Irrigation Departments were existing.

The foundation stone was laid down on 01-07-2007 by the Hon'ble Chief Minister Late Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy garu.

The APHMIDC., Govrnment of Andhra Pradesh have under taken the construction of RIMS.,Ongole and entrusted the construction work to M/s LANCO Infrastructure, Hyderabad vide Letter no.216/APHMHIDM/DEE-2/AEE-3/2007-08/5863;5864 and 5865 Dated 26-12-2007.

The erstwhile District Headquarters Hospital, Ongole with 200 beds was taken over under the administrative control of Director,RIMS, Ongole from 01-10-2008 and shifted to New RIMS premises at Bhagya nagar with 300 beds..

About The Medical Superintendent
Born on 4th October 1948, at Vijayawada, completed his M.B.B.S Degree from Stanley Medical College,Madras,Madras University in the year 1973. then joined Andhra Pradesh Medical & Health Services in 1976. He Passed his M.S. (General Surgery) in 1985 from Madras University at Stanley Medical College, Madras.

Worked as Asst.Professor of Surgery in Siddhartha Medical College from 1988 to 1997.

Worked as Associate Professor from 1997 to 1999 and promoted as Professor and HOD at Siddhartha Medical College from 1999-2006.

He Worked as M.S at Govt.General Hospital Vijayawada from 2004-2006 and retired from Govt services on 31-10-2006.

Later he joined as M.S and Professor of Surgery at Dr.PSIMS ch.pally, AP 2006-2009.

He joined as M.S. at RIMS, Ongole from 06-03-2009 He is the examiner for UG & Pg examinations to Dr.NTR University of Health & Sciences, Dr.MGR Medical University Tamilanadu,Dr.Rajiv Gandhi Medical University, Karnataka.

Campus :-
RIMS, Adilabad were established in 53.5 Acres of land side by NH 7 in the year 2008. The work is grounded on 01-02-2008. The District Hospital was taken over by RIMS Authority in the month of October 2008 with 250 beds. Now there are 350 Beds. The ground floor of the college building was inaugurated on 24th August 2008 by our formerly Chief Minister Sri Dr.Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy.
