Siddhartha Medical College was established by Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education,Vijayawada -10 in November, 1980 with an annual intake of 100 students. As this is a statewide college admissions will be done following six point formula. The then Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh late Sri.T.Anjaiah inaugurated the college on 13-3 1981.and the regular session started from 16-3-1981.A building complex for Siddhartha Medical College was completed in November 1985 with a floor space of 1,48,000Sq. ft. in an area of 57 acres and the college was shifted into this new premises on 7-11-1985.

The A.P. University of Health Sciences was established on 1-11-1986 in Vijayawada by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.. Siddhartha Medical College was handed over by the Siddhartha Academy of General & Technical Education to the A.P.University of Health Sciences on 21st December, 1986. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has de-linked the college from NTR University of Health Sciences on 21st December2000 , and brought this college under the administrative control of Director of Medical Education.Sree Siddhartha Medical College (SSMC) was started in the year 1988 by Sree Siddhartha Educational Society (SSES).

The Medical College and hospital is located in the outskirts of Tumkur city 6 km from the city amidst green field in a vast campus of 220 acres of the side of Bangalore Honnavar national highway and it is just 76 Km from Bangalore city connected by road and railway.The climate is similar to Bangalore. There are 21 buildings with built-in area of about 73,875 sq. mt at the cost of about Rs. 20 crores, which include furnished quarters for staffs. There are separate buildings for pre and para-clinical departments, library and information center and SSMC Hospital

College Campus

Hospital
SSMC Hospital has separate building for OPD and causality with independent departments of Medicine, Surgery, OBG, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Paediatrics, ENT, Dermatology, and Radiology. It is a 1350 bedded hospital, fully equipped with 12 major operation theaters in addition to minor operation theaters. SSMC is catering the needs of rural population. There are skilled doctors with specially trained nurses to give a healing touch to the patients.

The Hospital building also has a post office and a bank to serve the needs of staff, students and the public. There is a canteen, hospital mess, fruit stall and a phone booth to cater the needs of the public.

Library

The central library has a separate building with a built in area of 12600 Sq.Ft.
It has grown along with the institution. It has a ground floor and 1st floor and can accommodate 200 students at a time.
Students friendly chief librarian Mr. Gopinath and his team are always there to help the students. In Library both Indian and foreign journals and thousands of reference books are available.
A new digital library is incorporated which is connected to Rajiv Gandhi university of Health Science library. Through this staff and students of SSMC can access all the facilities of digital library of Health University.
Internet Connection has been provided and through which the students and staffs can access the websites of all the premier institutions, journals and this has changed the method of teaching and learning.

Admissions
Admissions to U.G and P.G courses shall be made on an All India basis to the identical courses in all deemed-to-be universities through a Common Entrance Test conducted by UGC or by an Institution / Agency identified and approved by the UGC. This shall also apply to those institutions which have already been given the deemed-to-be university status.

Total number of under-graduate seats (B.D.S) at Sri Siddhartha Dental college : 40

Admission Eligibility

The candidate shall have passed the two year P.U.C examination conducted by P.U Board, Karnataka State with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects or any other examinations recognized as equivalent by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences
Or the first year of three year degree course of a Recognized University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in these subjects provided the examination i.e. a "University Examinations"
B.Sc with physics, chemistry and biology (botany and zoology) or Chemistry, botany and Zoology exam of an Indian university, provided that he has passed the B.Sc examination and has passed the B.Sc Examination and has secured at least 50% in any of the two subjects studied at the degree level and he has passed the earlier qualifying examination with physics, chemistry, biology and English
Any other examination which in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the intermediate science examination of an Indian university / board, taking physics, chemistry and biology including a practical test in each of these subjects and English the candidate shall have obtained not less than 50% for general candidates
The candidate should have to complete 17 years on 31st December of the year of admission.

Post Graduate Courses
Candidate who has passed the MBBS degree examination after pursuing a study in a Medical College recognized by the Medical Council of India of this university or of other recognized medical college affiliated to any other University, recognized as equivalent there to, and has completed one year Compulsory Rotating Internship in a teaching institution or other institution recognized by the Medical Council of India by 30th April 2004 and has obtained permanent registration of any State Medical Council, shall be eligible for admission provided the candidate for degree/diploma has not failed more than four times in final year MBBS subject viz., Medicine, Surgery, OBG provided further that, in respect of SC/ST and BT candidates should not have failed more than five times in the above said subjects

50% of total PG seats will be filled by the Government and remaining 50% seats in each subject will be selected by the Management of Siddhartha Medical College. Selection will be based on the merit as determined by the Common entrance test conducted by COMEDK PGET 2005. All interested students are advised to log on to for details of the test.

Application Kits will be available in our college, can be obtained by paying a Non Refundable fee by Demand draft for Rs.1000/- (Rs.One thousand only), drawn in favour of COMEDK 2005, payable at Bangalore.

Candidates are advised to apply to our College along with all MBBS marks cards, Housemanship completion certificate, COMEDK RANK card. Last date for applying to our college, counseling date and other details will be made available in our web site time to time.Fee structure will be same for each course for all candidates irrespective of whether the merit determination is on the basis of COMEDK PGET 2005 management quota seats or RGUHS PGET 2005 for Govt seats.
