About The University
Suez Canal University was established by national decree No 93of 1976 and received it's first batch of students in the following year 1977. The philosophy of establishment of this university was distinct of the rest universities in Arab republic of Egypt that it is flew to the university community serving an expensive area of the land of Egypt land was scene of drifting and struggle over many years .

And with promise of peace which accompanied the history of establishment of university the region of Suez Canal and Sinai become the focus of world principals. Suez canal university assumed it's distinct position in the Suez canal zone where it started with three faculties when it's opens then the number of faculties distributed to the Canal and the three provinces of North Sinai and South Sinai, in addition to numerous research centers and specialized units that serve the special character of the region that they exist, and extended its activity to cover the aspects of education, services and training and various scientific research.

In 1974 issued a decree, of First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers No. 12 was issued for establishing of the Faculty of Education at Shebeen City where it follows Tanta University and transferring the dependency Faculty of Agriculture, at shebeen EL-Kom University of Ain Shams to Tanta University.

In 1975 a decree of the President of Arab Republic of Egypt No. 809 was issued for the executive regulation of Law No. 49 of 1972 on the organization of universities (Part I - V), Tanta University has Faculties of Arts, Commerce, Science and Medicine (followed by sections of Dentistry and Pharmacy), Education and Agriculture at Kafr El-Sheikh, agriculture and education at shebin Kom , then the decree of the Prime Minister's 924 in the same year was issued for modifying the same list and add the faculties of Engineering and Technology at shebin Kom and Electronic Engineering at Menuf to the faculties of the University of Tanta.

In 1976 a decree of the Council of Ministers President No. 1142 on the amendment of the same Regulation which added the faculties of dentistry, pharmacy, law, engineering, agriculture and veterinary medicine, education at Kafr El-Sheikh and the Higher Institute of Nursing (followed to the Faculty of Medicine) of the University of Tanta, and by the independent of EL-Monofia University, faculties of Engineering and Technology at shebin EL- Kom and Electronic Engineering at Menuf , education and agriculture at shebin Kom from the University of Tanta. In 1981 a decree of President of the Arab Republic of Egypt 278 was issued for the establishing the a branch of Tanta University at Kafr El-Sheikh and contained the faculties of agriculture, education, and in 1990 a decree was issued to transfer the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to a branch of Tanta University, Kafr El-Sheikh.

In 1994 the decree of President of the Arab Republic of Egypt No. 287 was issued to add the Faculty of Physical Education (male - female) of the University of Tanta, and in 1996 decree of the Minister of Higher Education No. 1661 was issued for issuing the bylaws of the Technical Institute of Nursing which follows the Faculty of Medicine, Tanta University. In 1998 a decree the President of Arab Republic of Egypt No. 329 was issued for adding the specific Education faculty to Tanta University, and another one for the branch of the University of Kafr El-Sheikh.

In 2000 Presidential Decree No. 200 of Arab was issued for the independence of the Higher Institute of Nursing Faculty of Medicine to become the faculty of Nursing. In 2006 a decree the President of Arab Republic of Egypt No. 129 was issued to repeal the Branch of Tanta University at Kafr El-Sheikh and the establishment of the University Kafr El-Sheikh where the University of Tanta was the axis and the basis for the establishment of the new university.

The University Council
The University Council is consisted of the President of the University, and the membership of: Vice-President of the University Deans of faculties and institutes of the University Four members of the most experienced in the affairs of university education and public affairs and they are appointed for a two renewable years by the President after consulting the Council of the University. It is forbidden to collect more than membership of boards of universities that related to the law of organizing universities. The Secretary of the University attends the meetings of the council of the university , participates in its discussions, has a position of the secretariat of the Council. History
The history of Suez Canal University dates back to 1976 when the university was established by the presidential decree no. 93 for 1976.

Study began in 1977 in six faculties; namely, the faculty of science, the faculty of agriculture, the faculty of commerce, the faculty of engineering and technology (in Port Said) and the faculty of education (in Suez).

In the 1980s and 1990s, steady expansion in the university has been going on with a new faculty opening its doors almost every year. Today, there are 49588 students registered at the university studying in more than twenty faculties distributed in more than six Branches located in Ismailia, Port Said, and Suez and El-Arish. Two more faculties, one for arts and humanities and the other for fish, are to be established soon.

The number of senior staff members today exceeds 1497 assisted by 1485 junior staff, members teaching to more than 74097 at the undergraduate level. Till now, 87500 students have received their first degree from the university, in addition to 15082 who have received different graduate degrees.

As for the administration, the university employs more than 6481 employees in 25 central directorates shouldering the administrative work in collaboration with the university and faculty administrations.

Community participation: Reaching out and partnering with community leaders and health authorities to identify community needs & problems and working toward responding to these needs and tackling these problems.

The school objectives

Education
Faculty of Education was established in Ismailia according to the University Council Resolution which was issued on June 15, 1977 and which announced the establishment of the Faculty of Education in Ismailia in order to support the educational movement in the region and raise the teacher's efficiency which is required at all educational levels in the Canal Zone and Sinai

Faculty to become a model for nursing education institutions in Egypt provided a high level of quality and efficiency of education keep pace with international standards based on the foundations of knowledge and research skills and modern graduates more efficient phases of undergraduate and postgraduate able to compete in the local labor market and the regional and global levels.

The mission of the faculty of Nursing, "Ismailia" Suez Canal University is to train nurses and qualified nurses and specialists are able to compete effectively at the local level and globally through the provision of preventive, curative and rehabilitative community is also working hard to improve scientific research in the field of nursing to assist in solving the problems of society as well to bring about development and excellence in nursing education at both the practical and theoretical in undergraduate and graduate.
