Since 1982 the University of Health Sciences Antigua has been providing outstanding medical education to students from all over the world.Our mission is to effectively prepare dedicated students like you to become future medical doctors. Our curriculum has been designed taking into consideration, the needs of knowledge of today's physicians. Due to the solid foundation of the courses taught, our students are very successful during the clinical portion of the UHSA medical program. This is an important factor in successfully passing the required licensing examinations.

The Doctor of Medicine program at UHSA is a 4-Year medical program that consists of Basic Sciences studies and Clinical Pathways leading to the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. The first two years are dedicated to completing the Basic Sciences at the UHSA campus in Antigua. Upon completion of the Basic Sciences, students proceed to complete the Clinical Sciences at affiliated hospitals in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Basic Sciences
During the four semesters of Basic Sciences (2 years), students are exposed to patient care at Antigua's hospital, Mount St.John's Medical Center, in addition to various health clinics in Antigua while simultaneously completing coursework. The Basic Sciences portion of the curriculum is an in-depth, hands-on approach to learning medicine. Students will obtain the necessary knowledge and experience to prepare for hospital rotations. The final semester of Basic Sciences is designed to prepare the student in the USMLE Step I exam and Clinical Sciences.
Clinical Sciences
Clinical Sciences are dedicated to completing core and elective clinical rotations. Students fulfill the Clinical Sciences portion of the program at UHSA's affiliated hospitals in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Once students advance to the clinical portion of the medical program, students are required to complete 2-years of Core and Elective rotations at our affiliated hospitals. Core rotations are designed to provide students with a foundation for understanding the basic areas of medical practice.
During Elective Rotations, students have the opportunity to enrich and diversify their medical education within areas of interest. Electives also allow for both broad sampling and in-depth involvement with areas that students may select to specialize in during their residency.Information on Electives Macedonia School of Nursing is a part of the campus of the University of Health Sciences Antigua, a privately endowed institution founded in 1982.
The school of nursing is committed to academic excellence, and its aim is to create a health practitioner who will exhibit self-determination, initiative, and critical thinking qualities. The aim is also to ensure that the practitioner provides quality nursing care to clients throughout the life span in all settings of health care.
The program of study combines all the prerequisites which lead to application of positive attitudes, knowledge and skills necessary for producing a well qualified Registered Nurse who can practice regionally, nationally, and internationally.
