About The University UMST is a private, non-profit making University, located in Khartoum, Sudan. UMST was established in 1996 to serve the educational needs of Sudanese, African and Arab students. In the years since its foundation the University has expanded to include 11 faculties including Medicine, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Dentistry, Dental Technology, Nursing, Computer Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, Radiology and Anesthetic Sciences.
The vision on which UMST was established was the provision of quality university graduates. We believe that in recent times, government universities in the whole of Africa and the Arab world have deteriorated in the face of diminishing resources both in terms of human experts and materials.a
UMST offers Masters degrees in Community Nursing and Pediatric Nursing, a Masters degree in Public and Tropical Health, as well as a number of other postgraduate degrees and diplomas. You will find details on the faculties, the degrees and courses offered by UMST under the various headings.

Dentistry college building In the effort to provide continuous development of the academic backbone of UMST it is expected that in the year 2010 we will open the new Dentistry college building which will have five floors. It is designed to hold 71 dentistry chairs. It will include two large study halls and two seminar rooms, well-equipped labs filled with the latest German-developed technology cooling systems and an air extraction system. The building will also contain an outpatient clinic, five specialised clinics and a number of administrative offices for university doctors. It will be regarded as the first of its kind in Sudan.
Sudan Development Institute The near future continues to show the successful journey and achievements to the UMST as they have nearly completed the establishment of the Sudan Development Institute. In spite of the achievements of the university in the development of Sudan, there are still a lot of areas which require development and we hope to achieve this through the establishment of the Sudan Development Institute.
This institute will make the connection between the university and the local and international community. One of the most important issues facing the institute is the coordination of the development efforts made by the government, international agencies and NGOs, and the private sector. It is expected that this institute will bridge the gap between different sub-specialities in order to reach a qualified curriculum to solve social, economic problems facing Sudan.
The university hopes that the institute will support its positive effect on a large population locally and internationally.
College of Social and Environmental studies There are strong justifications for the construction of such a college in the university because of the importance of social and environmental problems in Sudan and all around the world. This college will focus on studying all the aspects of Social and Environmental studies which include human behaviour, social relationships, the relationship between humans and the environment, as these are regarded as vital issues which must be examined in order to find solutions to the problems facing countries in the developing world.
The university is looking forward to providing a vital, vibrant centre where people can engage in dialogue, discussion and learning on social and environmental problems, in a context with different specialities outside traditional ways of thinking by taking into account the economic, social, cultural, environmental and ethical aspects of these issues.

Faculty of Medicine Training to be a doctor in medicine is challenging. The constant advances in diagnosis and treatment of diseases necessitate a balanced curriculum, from teaching good bedside manner, to focusing on technologically oriented techniques in patient-management. Medicine as a discipline is based on science, the art of diagnosis and human touch in patients care. Sudan faces many health problems and these are reflected in the curriculum set by the faculty. With these challenges in mind, the Faculty of Medicine in the University was established in 1996 with the following objectives
To graduate medical doctors equipped with a sound scientific knowledge of medicine, trained in patients care (actual patients, not simulators or actors), and properly advised on ethical conduct and behavior.
To train future doctors on modern diagnostic and treatment modalities including advanced imaging techniques and advanced therapeutic treatment.
To enable the student to think in terms of critical analysis of medical conditions equipped with sound research methods and be able to answer a research question in an acceptable way and produce a research thesis on graduation.
The Faculty of Medicine is equipped with lecture theatres and advanced laboratories (Biochemistry, Physiology, Physics, Dissection room, Biology/Molecular Biology and Skills laboratory). A Teaching Hospital and a number of health centers have also been established to receive the students.
